Grant Opportunity Deadline December 15 - Pre-Apprenticeship Initiative

As previously announced by the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet and the Kentucky Workforce Investment Board, Pre-Apprenticeships in Construction Initiative funding opportunities are available. The purpose of this initiative is to create integrated, collaborative partnerships that include representatives of the education, labor and workforce development sectors.

KYAE encourages adult education programs to contact their local Workforce Investment Board to discuss the possibilities of partnering to develop pre-apprenticeship training programs that serve low-income, non-working adults and/or dislocated workers, all with emphasis on minority and female participation. More information about the initiative can be found in the attached document.

The Cabinet will award multiple grants, with maximum amounts of $100,000. Total funding for this initiative is $750,000. Each recipient will be required to provide leveraging support for the project equivalent to 25% or more of the grant amount. In order to assist you in this partnership opportunity, KYAE will provide 25% of the grant amount as leveraging support for those programs who partner with a local Workforce Investment Board and receive a grant under this initiative, specific to the Workforce Alliance guidelines.

Application deadline is December 15. If you have questions about this initiative, please contact Marilyn Lyons at Marilyn.Lyons@ky.gov or Melissa Warren at Melissa.Warren@ky.gov.
