NEW KYAE Curriculum and Instruction Staff
Dear Adult Education colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that KYAE has filled the two positions designated for our new unit in Curriculum and Instruction. Meryl Becker-Prezocki has accepted the position of Sr. Associate for Curriculum and Instruction and Gayle Box has accepted the position of Associate.
Meryl comes to KYAE from the Jefferson County Adult Education Program where she served as Coordinator of the Ahrens Learning Center and instructor. She has 30 years of teaching and leadership experience in education, including an MA in Education from Illinois State University, Rank 1 Certification in Exceptional Child Education and Certification for Moderate and Severe Disabilities from the University of Louisville. She has developed curriculum in all primary adult education content areas and has expertise in instruction and assessment of adults with learning disabilities and alternate learning styles. She has been delivering professional development in adult learning disabilities to adult education teachers for five years and is well-known to many of you.
Gayle Box joins us from the Appalachian Lifelong Learning Center located at Hazard Community College. Gayle earned an M.ED from Texas State University. She led a program improvement initiative at the Center that was very successful. She has 20 years of teaching experience and has served as the lead instructor at the Center for five years. Her work experience includes curriculum development and establishment of a college preparation course for transitioning adult education students to postsecondary education. Gayle has been active in state-level activities and many of you have already worked with her.
Both Meryl and Gayle will start their work at KYAE on July 16, 2007. I know that we will all enjoy working with them in their new capacities and that they will contribute much to our adult education system.
We are all delighted that we have two such well-qualified and experienced adult educators joining our staff.
