Important TABE Post-Testing Announcement

KYAE is pleased to announce that the Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) has accepted a new McGraw-Hill recommendation on the number of instructional hours required before post-testing on the TABE assessment.  Effective immediately, KYAE has adopted the new recommendation as follows:

  • Students in NRS Levels 1-4 need a minimum of 40 hours of instruction prior to post-testing.
  • Students in NRS Levels 5 and 6 need a minimum of 30 hours of instruction prior to post-testing.

AERIN has been reprogrammed to accept the new minimum hours for students in Levels 1-4 and to remove the previous goal-setting requirements for students in Levels 5 and 6.  KYAE emphasizes that while marking goals for GED®, transitioning and employment is no longer a condition for NRS Level 5 and 6 students to test after 30 hours, these goals are still extremely important and in the best interest of students and your programs.  Goals should still be discussed with students and marked as appropriate.

The KYAE Policy and Procedure Manual has been revised to reflect the changes.
