Part-time Instructors and Instructor's Aides PD Requirements
All part-time instructors and instructor’s aides shall complete either the Assessment to Instruction online course or the Effective Instructional Strategies online course and the accompanying classroom project. All KCTCS staff that serve the state correctional facilities for the Department of Corrections will complete the same requirements.
New part-time instructors and instructor’s aides will also complete the pre-requisite, Orientation to Adult Education online course.
This requirement includes both KYAE-funded part-time corrections and ESL instructors/instructor’s aides.

This six-hour, six-week, online facilitated course provides a foundational understanding for how assessment is used to drive instruction in the classroom. Participants engage in interactive learning with their peers through the use of a discussion board and a course project. The online course consists of a syllabus, interactive learning activities, assigned reading and a course project. All participants will complete a pre- and post-assessment and an online course project that is due 30 days after the online course is closed.
Effective Instructional Strategies Online Course Cohort 1: March 22-April 30, 2010 Cohort 2: April 5-May 14, 2010 Listed in PDtrack as Effective Instructional Strategies Online Course
This six-hour, six-week, online facilitated course provides an understanding for how to integrate research and best practices into effective classroom instruction Participants engage in interactive learning with their peers through the use of videotapes, blogs, a discussion board and a course project. The online course consists of a syllabus, interactive learning activities, assigned reading and a course project. All participants will complete a pre- and post-assessment and a course project that is due 30 days after the online course has closed.
Orientation to Adult Education Listed in PDtrack as Orientation to Adult Education
This online course introduces new adult education practitioners to information specific to adult education in Kentucky. The course is a self-paced tutorial with activities to build knowledge and a course quiz to test understanding of adult education concepts.
